Help & FAQ — for skilled workers

Everything you need to use STACS, in plain language. If something here still isn't clear, message us on WhatsApp — a real person will answer.

Getting started

STACS is not a job board and not a recruitment agency. We are the trust layer: we verify who you are and what you can do, prepare you, and make you visible to employers abroad who are looking for exactly your skill. We never promise a job or a visa — those decisions belong to employers and governments. What we promise is that your record will be trustworthy, and that you will not be exploited along the way.

Step by step — what actually happens

1

Register free

Fill the Skilled Worker form. It takes about 10 minutes. You need your passport photo, an ID document and your CV. Registration costs nothing.

2

Verify your email

We email you a link. Click it. Until you do, your application does not move.

3

We review and approve you

Our team checks your details against basic lawful requirements. When approved you receive your unique STACS ID (like WK-1234567890-NG) and a welcome email. Until then your profile is private — nobody can see you.

4

Sign in to your dashboard

Go to Sign in, choose Worker, and use the email and password you registered with. Your dashboard shows your status, your skills and your next step.

5

Migrate into the Job Pool

This is the step that makes you visible to employers. It includes your profile assessment, queueing and the mandatory orientation. There is a fee for this stage.

6

Get your credentials verified

Accredited verifiers confirm your certificates with the bodies that issued them. Each verified credential adds a ✓ Verified badge to your profile — this is what employers trust most.

7

Be discovered, interviewed, hired

Employers search the pool and shortlist you. All contact runs through STACS so your personal details stay protected.

8

Visa, travel and arrival

If you are hired, our lawyer, travel and settlement partners handle the visa file, your flight and your first days in the new country.

Your account

I registered but never got the email
Check your spam or promotions folder first. If it is not there, message us on WhatsApp with the email address you used and we will resend it. Do not register a second time — duplicate accounts slow down your approval.
How long does approval take?
Usually a few working days. We review every application by hand — that is what keeps the pool trustworthy. You will get an email either way.
I forgot my password
Message us on WhatsApp from the number or email you registered with and we will help you reset it. For your safety we never send passwords over chat.
Can I have two accounts?
No. One person, one account. Duplicate or ghost accounts are treated as dishonesty and can get you removed.

Skills & slots

What is a "slot"?
A slot is one skill or trade on your profile. Slot 1 is your main trade — the work you would do tomorrow. If you genuinely work in other trades too, you can add them as slots 2 to 9. Slot 10 is reserved for your academics and education.
Do I have to fill all the slots?
No. One is enough. Most people have one main trade and that is completely fine. Only add more if you truly work in them — inventing skills will fail verification and damage your record.
I can't find my exact job title in the list
Pick the closest match. The list uses standard international job titles so employers everywhere search the same words — that is what makes you findable. If your trade is genuinely missing, choose the nearest one and tell us on WhatsApp; we add missing trades regularly.
Why can't I just type my job title?
Because an employer searching for "Industrial Electrician" would never find someone who typed "Electrical Tech". Choosing from the list means both sides use the same words — and you get found.
Can I add a skill later?
Yes. You can add skills to your profile after you join, as you qualify in new areas.

Documents

What documents do I need?
To register: a passport-style photo, an ID or passport, and your CV. Later, depending on your trade: your certificates, trade test, licence, references, police clearance and medical certificate.
What file size and type?
Photos: JPG or PNG, up to 2 MB (large photos are shrunk automatically). Documents: PDF is best, up to 5 MB. If a file is too big, the form will tell you before you submit.
Why does my passport photo become my profile picture?
So employers and verifiers see one consistent, official-looking image of you across the whole platform. Use a clear, recent, passport-style photo — not a social media picture.
Will I be asked for original documents?
Yes, possibly. STACS may ask you to send your originals to our unit for physical clearance at any time. Keep them safe and available. Failing to produce them when asked can be treated as suspected fraud and may end your membership.

Verification

What is verification?
An accredited, independent verifier contacts the school, council or employer that issued your document and confirms it is genuine. They upload the confirmation as proof. The result is stamped with their name and verifier ID.
How long does it take?
Standard verification takes 60–90 days, because real institutions take time to reply. An express option is available for some documents, from a few days to about three weeks.
Who pays for verification?
Either you or an interested employer. If an employer asks for a document to be verified and chooses not to pay, we notify you so you can fund it yourself and strengthen your profile.
What if my document cannot be verified?
The status shows "Not yet cleared" with the reason given. Verification pays for the investigation, so there is no refund if the answer is unfavourable — you are paying for a trustworthy answer either way.
What is the "verified profile summary" on my dashboard?
A short written summary of your profile, generated automatically from your verified credentials only — never from claims. It appears once your first credential is verified, and updates itself as more are confirmed. It is what an employer understands about you at a glance.

Fees & payments

What is free and what is not?
Registration is free. You pay only when you choose to move forward: the Stage 1 fee to migrate into the Job Pool (which includes your mandatory orientation), and any services you order such as verification, translation, legal or travel help.
What currency will I pay in?
Nigerian users pay in Naira; everyone else in US Dollars. The amount is shown before you pay.
Should I ever pay an agent in cash?
Never. All STACS payments happen on the platform. Nobody at STACS will ever ask you for cash, gifts or personal transfers. If someone does, report it immediately.

Employers

Can employers see my phone number?
No. Employers see a contact-masked profile — your skills, experience and verification badges, but not your personal contacts. All engagement runs through STACS. That protects you from being approached and exploited off-platform.
Does being in the pool guarantee a job?
No, and be careful of anyone who says otherwise. STACS makes you visible, credible and prepared. Hiring decisions belong to employers, and visas belong to governments.

Safety & fraud

Protect yourself. STACS will never ask for cash payments, never guarantee a visa, and never ask you to send documents to a personal address. Everything happens on the platform.
What counts as fraud here?
Forged or altered documents, false claims of experience, impersonation, paying someone to "pass" a verification, or refusing to produce originals when asked. Any of these can end your membership and may be reported to the authorities.
Someone is asking me for money outside the platform
Do not pay. Report it to us immediately on WhatsApp with any screenshots. Protecting workers from exploitation is the reason STACS exists.
